Humanitarian education starts at an early age. The kick-off ceremony of the “Red Twinkle Star” this year was successfully held on 21 August. Nearly 150 pairs of parents and Humanitarian Heroes participated in STEM workshops and wonderful play facilities. They learned the value of humanity through interesting games and let young children practice the spirit of humanity.
Let’s plant the seeds of humanity and continue to spread love and care. Uncle Ho, aged 75, donated part of his elder sister’s estate to the Hong Kong Red Cross (HKRC) four years ago. Ms Ho died of cancer. Uncle Ho was not surprised by his sister’s decision, “She was fortunate to have received the blood transfusion service in time to fight the illness. After she passed away, donating her inheritance to charitable organizations could have a greater impact than we expected.” The HKRC held a seminar on policy giving and legacy arrangement in September. We would like to thank all guests for their sharing. Participants are now better equipped to plan their estates and on relevant arrangements.
In addition to supporting our events, we would like to thank all donors for responding to the appeal of “Silent Warnings of Climate Disasters”. The HKRC raised over HK$620,000 in July and August. During the appeal period, we also organized “Green Market”, “Disaster Around You” – a social simulation game, various activities and workshops etc.
Sincere thanks for the generous donations and support! The funds will be used on humanitarian actions related to climate disasters. At the same time, we sincerely invite everyone to take part and set an example. Take a step further each day to practice green living and alleviate extreme weathers.
We wish you and your family safety and good health!
