Every year, May 8th is “World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day”. This year, the Hong Kong Red Cross (HKRC) will adopt the theme “World Red Cross Day – We Care, Always There”. From May 8th to 12th 11AM to 8PM (Wednesday to Sunday), we will hold a themed exhibition on Level G of Festival Walk in Kowloon Tong. The exhibition will showcase the emergency relief services provided by HKRC when Hong Kong encounters heavy rains or emergency situation. Through exhibitions and games, participants will assume the role of disaster management personnel, conduct on-site assessments in simulated disaster scenarios, recommend appropriate assistance methods, and learn about disaster response knowledge. We cordially invite donors and friends to join us from May 8th to 12th. The exhibition is free of charge and no need to register in advance.
To honor World Red Cross Day, we will launch an online crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for over 20 service programs with the opening ceremony which takes place on May 8th World Red Cross Day on LG2 in Festival Walk. Through the crowdfunding platform, we hope to share with you the humanity stories and spirit of the Red Cross, hoping for your generous donation to support the humanitarian services! Just a few steps, you can freely choose the projects you wish to support and donate, in addition to share them with your family and friends, encouraging everyone to put humanity into action!
In recent years, climate change has intensified, leading to more frequent occurrences of extreme weather. In 2023, Hong Kong experienced a century-level rainstorm, extreme heatwaves, and super typhoons. As the impact of climate change becomes more pressing, we need to pay attention to the disasters brought about by extreme weather globally and learn about disaster response and preparedness.
In early March, Hong Kong Red Cross held “The 2nd Red Cross City Challenge”. With the theme “Rebuild Life, Rebuild Home” and in collaboration with the global brand Snoopy™, the event attracted over 2,500 participants. Participants ventured into the heart of the city, racing against time in the streets and alleys of different districts in Kowloon, searching for designated checkpoints to complete various missions.
Star Ambassador Do Do Cheng, along with Event Ambassadors 193 Denis Kwok@ERROR, and Ying Chi Yuet (MrLittleCat) cheered on the participants. The three ambassadors also played games and learn the use of automated external defibrillator (AED). They also urged the public to continue to support the Hong Kong Red Cross in its humanitarian services to aid those in need.
Wishing you and your family peace and good health!
